Three Sisters Vineyards, presents its Annual “Wine & Chocolate LOVERS” Celebration throughout February. This February 4^th, 5^th, 11^th, 12^th, 18^th, 19^th, and 25^th-26^th, the Three Sisters Vineyard will combine chocolate and wines in a special tasting line-up. No reservations are required for the walk-up $20 per person tastings. However, the special $35 per person private tasting/seating in the winery will require advance ticket purchase, with limited seating. Wolf Mountain Vineyard invites couples to its Valentine Celebration Weekend. Saturday, February 11^th at 7 p.m. will be the Valentine Gourmet dinner with a six course meal with wine pairings. The dinner is $80 per person, all-inclusive. The Vineyard is also having a Valentine Sunday Brunch with seatings at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on February 12^th. NEIL SIMON’S ‘RUMORS’ – The Play, 1/13-15,20-22,27-29. Fridays & Saturdays at 8 pm, Sundays at 2pm.

Imagine, that there is a party where several couples have gathered at a posh suburban home celebrating their hosts’ 10th anniversary and several things are wrong, very wrong, including the hostess is missing and the host (the deputy mayor of New York) has been shot in the earlobe.

That’s where this classic farce starts and where it leads is a hysterical story of people trying to conceal details from local police and the media as stories crisscross and rumors build.

Playwright Neil Simon is most well-known for plays such as Odd Couple, Biloxi Blues, The Out of Towners, Good-bye Girl and The Last of the Red Hot Lovers and has been a Kennedy Center Honoree, has won four Tony Awards, six writer’s Guild of America Awards, and a Pulitzer Prize.

Opening on January 13th, Rumors will run three weeks with an exciting cast of players, many of which you have not seen on the Holly’s stage before. Directed by Daniel Martin, the play pulls from many of our local residents including Andy Ward, Melanie Pruitt, Josh Cagle, Charity Cagle, Stephanie Neuman, Richard Pace, Gordon Solumbk and coming to our stage for the first time, John Minnich.

Winter Wine Highway This Weekend 12/2-12/4

A Tuna Christmas Playing at the Holly Theater 12/2-18

A Tuna Christmas is the second in a series of comedic plays (preceded by Greater Tuna and followed by Red, White and Tuna and Tuna Does Vegas), each set the fictional town of Tuna, Texas, the “third-smallest” town in the state. The trilogy was written by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears, and Ed Howard.The plays are at once an affectionate comment on small-town, Southern life and attitudes but also a withering satire of same. The plays are notable in that two men play the entire cast of over twenty eccentric characters of both genders and various ages. The first play, Greater Tuna, debuted in 1981 in Austin; A Tuna Christmas debuted in 1989.

Dahlonega’s 28th Annual Old Fashioned Christmas Events

Dahlonega’s 28th Annual Old Fashioned Christmas is a month-long celebration set into motion on Friday, November 18, 2011 with the Lighting of the Square. A real home-town parade officially bringing Santa to town occurs on Saturday, December 3rd. Plenty of other festive holiday events continue almost daily throughout December until after New Year’s with caroling, entertainment, wine sampling, live theater Christmas events.

Art Walk to Feature Demonstrations by Local Artists

Have you ever wondered how an artist or fine crafter creates his or her artwork? Now is your chance to see local artists demonstrating their creative process in front of the Visitors Center, on the first Saturday of each month from June through November.

Sponsored by the Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Chamber of Commerce, different artists who are Chamber members will be featured each month, as they demonstrate their particular art or craft. Visitors can come and meet area artists between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and see how the magic begins.

23rd Annual Six Gap Century is coming soon and is a favorite among many of our guests.

Coming on September 25, 2011 and taking place in Georgia’s Premier Cycling Venue, the Six Gap Century & Three
Gap Fifty boasts many of the same roads and mountain climbs as the elite Tour de Georgia.

The Six Gap Century’s ultra challenging route takes you up and down six of the steepest climbs in the North
Georgia Mountains. Riders test their stamina with more than 11,200 feet of vertical climbing over the 104 mile course. Elevations for the six gaps in this ride range from 1,400 feet to 3,460 feet. The toughest climb, Hogpen Gap, will test even the strongest riders, averaging a 7% grade for seven miles, with sections as steep as 15%.

The Three Gap Fifty’s alternative route offers half the gaps and half the distance, but is nevertheless a demanding and challenging course at 58 miles. Elevations range from 1,400 feet to 3,364 feet.

There will also be the 4th Annual “Valley Route” Bike Ride. This 35-mile valley option is a great introduction to the infamous Six Gap Century and boasts some of the most scenic mountainside in the Southeast. This new route will cast a special spotlight onto Yahoola Valley, Turner’s Corner, and R-Ranch in the Mountains.

Hemlockfest 11/4-6 Musical Line Up Announced

For the seventh annual HemlockFest, the Lumpkin Coalition has again assembled an array of the area’s most awesome talents. Headliners for this year’s event—which returns to Starbridge Sanctuary near Dahlonega this November 4th, 5th and 6th—include Colonel Bruce Hampton and the Pharaoh Gummitt, Saint Francis, and the Lefty Williams Band.

Sunday’s line-up will be highlighted by Steel String Session and their brand of cosmic blues rockabilly bluegrass.

Dahlonega’s own prized talents will abound this year, with Home Grown Revival, Emerald Rose, and the Pick & Bow Band returning as crowd favorites. Carly Gibson, a singer/songwriter prodigy from Lumpkin County who completed programs at the prestigious GRAMMY Camp in Los Angeles, will be a new local addition.

This year’s bill includes other first-time HemlockFest performers, including Caroline Aiken, often cited as one of the cornerstones of the Decatur folk movement; and The Reese Boyd Project, which is fronted by a 10-year-old prodigy guitarist. Insonnia, Mean Mary, BlueBilly Grit, and 710 South will also make their HemlockFest debuts. More returning HemlockFest performers include Veronika Jackson, Women of Heart, and Barry Bailey. Unifire Theatre will appear once again with their stunning fire arts show.

HemlockFest is an unparalleled musical experience in a peaceful and beautiful setting just outside of Dahlonega. This all-ages, eco-friendly event features three days of live music, primitive camping, educational exhibits, arts and crafts vendors, a kid’s nature village, rustic living demonstrations, great food, and free canoeing. Both day and weekend passes will be available, and admission is free for kids (ages 15 and under with a supervising adult ticket holder).

HemlockFest proceeds aid efforts to minimize the impact of the non-native hemlock woolly adelgid parasite, which is devastating the hemlock trees of North Georgia at an alarming rate. HemlockFest has affected the raising of more than $100,000 to support predator beetle rearing labs at area colleges and universities. This effort to introduce predator beetles, which feed on hemlock woolly adelgids and are a safe and effective biological control, may help to save our native forests and preserve our quality-of-life.

This devastating event has caused him to spiral into a deep depression and look for solace in the classic movies that he loves, particularly the romantic saga CASABLANCA. Allan begins to have conversations with the fantasy ghost of his film idol, Humphrey Bogart, who gives him advice on romance and masculinity.
